And once again the electricity bill will go up.
A government decree published this Friday (14), will facilitate a loan to electricity distributors as a way to compensate for losses in the water crisis.
The loan must have a ceiling of up to R$ 6 billion, which, consequently, will reflect on the electricity bill, that is: the consumer who will pay this loan.
Saving money during this period of isolation is one of the most difficult tasks for so many people who need electrical energy to stay connected at home throughout the day and also at night, which increases the use of electrical energy even more.
With that in mind, we have prepared 5 tips to help you save energy at home and feel a little less those high bills in your pocket.
The type of lamp counts a lot in the final bill of electricity expenses, the first tip is to use LED lamps. They can be a little more expensive, but they consume less energy. It’s a cost benefit that is valid in the medium term, so whenever you can, choose them, even if it’s just in that room that spends most of the day with the light on.
2- Use notebook instead of computer
Another tip, especially for those who use a PC all day to work, is, if you have the option, use the notebook instead of the PC. Using the laptop computer can help a lot to save money, once charged, the notebook can be unplugged and used for up to 4 hours on its own battery alone, which greatly alleviates energy consumption.
Studies show that a computer turned on for eight hours can generate a monthly increase in the bill of R$ 48.18. Notebooks, on the other hand, generate an increase of R$ 9.49 connected in the same period.
3- Natural light
Taking advantage of the natural light of the environment is also a great resource to save energy. Leave doors and windows open as long as you can so the room gets natural light. If you need to have a meeting, choose to stay in front of the window using the outside light, without turning on light accessories or the house lamp itself.
4- Lighter colors
It may seem silly, but the choice of paint can also be a differential when it comes to saving money. For example, a room with white walls or light tones means that the place doesn’t need artificial light all the time. So whenever you can, choose light colors and use white where you can.
5- Avoid stand-by and unplug appliances
The devices, when they are in stand-by (off), but with that little red light on, showing that it is connected, also consume energy. The tip is to unplug it if you don’t use it that often. But if you use it a lot, at least at night it’s good to take as many devices out of the socket while you sleep.
Result: this action can represent up to 12% of the total consumption of the device. If you don’t use the device that often, unplug it and the energy consumption will drop.
In addition to these, it is also worth mentioning that taking shorter showers, avoiding leaving appliances such as microwaves and air conditioning on also helps.
